The modernization of the Department of Veterans Affairs electronic health record is a joint program between the Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). This effort will support interoperability with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems of the Department of Defense (DoD) and other healthcare partners to improve outcomes in healthcare quality, safety, efficiency and satisfaction for veterans, service members and their dependents and caretakers. Interoperable EHR systems will ensure that authorized beneficiary and medical data are accessible, usable, shared and secure enough to meet the needs of VA patients, healthcare providers and other stakeholders. GovernmentCIO provides organizational change management to support these VA electronic health modernization efforts. We collaborate with facility subject matter experts, clinicians, service chiefs and VA leaders to design and implement changes to clinical workflow as well as establish site parameters and site-specific files as necessary to support transition to new or updated information technology systems and improved care delivery.
